This letter is to announce the creation of the Twin Cities System Administrators (TCSA), a SAGE local group. The purpose of TCSA is to advance the practice of system administration in the Twin Cities area of Minnesota. TCSA is being established to provide a forum for meetings and presentations of interest to system and network administrators in the Twin Cities and surrounding area.
System administration is now coming into its own as a profession and local groups are being formed across the country to give system administrators a forum to discuss ideas and to hear talks on relevant issues. The Twin Cities is a nationally known technology center that has a large installed base of UNIX networks, therefore we feel a local group dedicated to the professional system administrator would be beneficial to the area.
TCSA is an informal group that will meet on the third Thursday of every month. We will arrange to have a guest speaker at each meeting to discuss topics of interest. The first meeting of TCSA is Thursday, January 18, 7:00 pm in the meeting room at Park Place West (Hwys 394 and 100). The speaker is Mike Karels, the Chief System Architect for Berkeley Software Design, Inc. See the attached meeting announcement for details and directions.
Membership in TCSA is free, and joining is as easy as subscribing to the mailing list. Members of TCSA should be professionally interested in the practice of system administration. TCSA is run by a group of volunteers; there are no elected officers.
To join TCSA, all you have to do is send an E-mail message to majordomo@tcsa.org with the words "subscribe tcsa" in the body. If you would like to help with the organizational aspects of TCSA, send an E-mail message to majordomo@tcsa.org with the words "subscribe tcsa-admin" in the body.
